New Neighborhoods, Inc., combined two properties in downtown Stamford to create a linear site with frontage on two parallel street for 10 units of affordable rental housing.

An existing house facing Taylor Street, originally constructed c. 1875 as a two family dwelling, was restored on the exterior with historically appropriate materials and details and completely renovated on the interior to provide four apartments with two new interior exit stairs. Damaged in a fire shortly before construction began, the wood structural framing was reinforced, insulation and new energy efficient building systems were installed, along with an automatic sprinkler system. A new structure containing four multi-story townhouses, two of them with garages, and two wheelchair accessible flats with entry porches was built facing Mission Street. The new building was designed to be sympathetic in form, materials, and details to the existing historic house and the surrounding residential neighborhood. A parking lot with driveway access from both streets is located in the center of the site, which is enhanced with extensive landscaping.
